Recently I’ve decided to try and quit consciously eating or drinking anything that contains Aspartame. I’ve heard multiple things about it, and have come to realize just how much of this chemical I ingest. Ideally, I’d like to ingest no chemicals, just natural foods, but in reality, this is just not convenient.
Diet Coke is my morning drink. Coffee is other people’s “get the day started” beverage. I have never been that way. I enjoy coffee when I have it, but never had the cravings. Diet Coke contains Aspartame… the stuff I want to try and cut out of my diet. Crap. Now what do I drink in the mornings to wake up? Tea? Water? I think I need caffeine though, so I’m on the hunt for alternative “fuels” for my body. [Wake up fuel]
This morning I bought two drinks to try, but I’m going to focus on just one during this revue, seeing as it was new to me. Pure American – Zero Calorie Water Beverage, Kiwi-Strawberry reflect. Yes, that is the whole name of this drink. I found it at Walgreen’s for $1.00 (20 oz). [Distributed by Walgreen's, price ranges from $1-$1.50] The packaging is very confusing, and the overall design is not something I’m a fan of. You can see all the confusing names and descriptions in the picture, as well as the bright “Susan G Komen” pink color they chose for this particular flavor. [Why is it that when you buy something that is Kiwi-Strawberry, they always make it pink? Kiwi is green, green>pink.] Although this doesn’t have the caffeine boost I’m after, I decided having water in the morning is always good and I can find my morning caffeine in other drinks. [Still searching, might have to try out this morning coffee "trend"]
Packaging aside, the flavor of this “vitamin enhanced water beverage” is actually quite tasty. I’ve had other “vitamin water beverages”, and the taste of each was horrible. Usually the flavored diet waters taste like water in a dirty glass, with just a hint of fruit or flavor. Pure American water doesn’t have a syrupy or powdery taste. It tastes as if the manufacturer took kiwi and strawberry, and squeezed them into water. You get a clean, refreshing drink with hints of fruit flavors that quench your thirst. You get the satisfaction of drinking water, without the boring water taste.
If you are looking to find a healthy, aspartame free drink with zero calories and great flavor, Pure American Zero Calorie water is for you. I have only tried this flavor, so I’ll be interested in hearing what other people think of it. Don’t forget, you can submit your own revue of any product we have revued. If you happen to grab a bottle of Pure American Water, let me know the flavor and taste and we’ll post it up on our site.
On the Revude.com meter, Pure American Zero Calorie Water (Kiwi-Strawberry flavor), receives a 4 out of 5. Don’t let the zero calorie/diet water label fool you into thinking this is your typical disgusting diet drink, grab a bottle, you’ll be refreshingly surprised at the flavor.
